Introduction
To achieve the objectives set for this module, we begin by introducing some basic definitions, which are key to understanding the module’s content and making it more user-friendly. We then discuss an example drawn from social media, highlighting one of the many cases where misinformation is propagated through fallacies. This example serves as a starting point to introduce various types of fallacious reasoning. Finally, the focus will shift to an in-depth analysis of FLICC (the five techniques of science denial by John Cook[1]):
- Fake experts
- Logical fallacies
- Impossible expectations
- Cherry Picking
- Conspiration theory
