Critical thinking skills: The 5 techniques of sciences denial by John Cook 4/10

  1. Logical fallacies

A logical fallacy is an argument that may sound convincing or true but is actually flawed. Logical fallacies are leaps of logic that led us to an unsupported conclusion. These include arguments where the conclusion doesn’t logically follow from the premises.[1]

“Because it was unusually cold in my city last winter, global warming is a hoax.”

Explanation: This conclusion is based on the limited observation of local weather rather than considering the broader, long-term trends in global climate data.
