Disinformation campaigns 1/7
What are disinformation campaigns?
A disinformation campaign is a coordinated effort to intentionally spread false or misleading information to deceive people. According to the European External Action Service (EEAS), these campaigns are often politically or financially motivated and can cause harm to the public. They usually aim to shape public opinion, influence behaviour, or disrupt political processes.
Disinformation is often shared through social media, websites, messaging apps, and sometimes even traditional media such as television, newspapers, or radio. These messages rely on emotionally charged or misleading narratives to capture attention and spread quickly across different platforms.
