Recognising emotional manipulation and moral framing in disinformation 4/6
Worldview backfire effect
People are more likely to believe disinformation when it fits their existing worldview or group identity. If a message confirms what someone already believes or supports their values, they are more likely to accept it without question. On the other hand, attempts to correct misinformation can sometimes backfire if they feel like a personal attack. This is called the worldview backfire effect, and it shows how important it is to communicate in ways that feel respectful and non-confrontational.
