Recognising emotional manipulation and moral framing in disinformation 3/6
Moral framing
Another powerful tool is moral framing. Disinformation often presents complex issues as simple battles between good and evil or right and wrong. This black-and-white thinking makes stories easier to follow and more emotionally engaging, but it also hides important details and encourages division. For example, messages that blame a group for a problem or that label people with opposing views as immoral or dangerous create strong “us vs. them” narratives. Even when facts are included, the way they are framed can influence how people interpret them.
