1. Who

Disinformation often spreads through anonymous sources or individuals without expertise. Verifying the author or publisher is the first step toward trustworthy information.

Ask the following questions:

• Who created or published the information?
• Is it written by a scientist, journalist, or recognised institution?
• Can you confirm their credentials or background?
• Do they have a history of reliable work—or are they known for misinformation?
