What is climate 4/4
Pieces of evidence of human-induced climate change 2/2
Climate change is not a distant threat; it is unfolding all around us, with clear, measurable signs. Global warming, defined as the rise in mean global surface temperature relative to the 1850–1900 baseline, has already reached about 1.5°C in 2024. Oceans have absorbed over 90% of the excess heat, driving up sea surface temperatures and fuelling marine heatwaves. Glaciers and polar ice sheets are melting at accelerating rates, contributing to sea level rise. Precipitation patterns are shifting, with some regions facing heavier rainfall and floods, while others suffer from prolonged droughts. Extreme weather events, such as storms and hurricanes, are becoming more intense and frequent. These global and regional changes serve as undeniable evidence of a rapidly changing climate.
