Climate threats and hazards 2/3
Hazards and climate change
While scientists usually cannot attribute a specific event directly to climate change, the two are interconnected, with human-induced climate change contributing to more frequent and intense extreme weather events. Evidence from the IPCC shows that small increases in global warming significantly affect extreme events such as temperature spikes, heavy precipitation, and worsening droughts. Also, shifts between weather extremes, such as oscillating between wet and dry conditions or between cold and hot temperatures can be linked to climate change.
