Indeed, in the blink of an eye, images can communicate a complex message. Let’s make a test: think about the effect of climate change in the Arctic. Did a polar bear appear in your thoughts? This is a good example of effective communication that relies on visual symbols. While in this case images can positively support climate communication, in other cases, they can be very misleading, hampering the assimilation of knowledge based on real data and evidence.
