Others might present only two extreme options, such as “we can either fix the economy or fight climate change,” leaving out more balanced alternatives. You may also come across appeals to nature, where something is claimed to be harmless simply because it’s natural—such as “CO₂ is natural, so it can’t be bad.” These techniques are often used to oversimplify complex issues or shift attention away from facts.
