Online harassment and how to stay safe 3/6

How you can respond to online harassment

Staying safe online starts with awareness. Here are simple steps you can take to protect yourself and support others:

Things to do:

  • Block or mute accounts that harass you
  • Ignore or delete harmful messages
  • Keep your personal information private
  • Think before you post—especially when upset
  • Treat others online the way you’d like to be treated offline

Things you should avoid:

  • Sharing or forwarding harmful content
  • Revealing too much about your personal life
  • Sharing passwords or account details
  • Using weak privacy or security settings

If someone you know is being targeted, speak up (if safe) or report it. Your silence could be misunderstood as support.
