Fake experts 2/2
A notorious example is the “Oregon Petition”, which claimed to have been signed by over 31,000 scientists who disputed the consensus on human-caused climate change. However, upon closer inspection, many of the signatories had no expertise in climate science; some were not even scientists. The petition included veterinarians, engineers, and even fictional characters. Despite its lack of credibility, the petition is still cited by climate change deniers as evidence of widespread scientific dissent.
