Emotional appeal tactics 1/2
One of the most common tactics in climate change disinformation is exploiting fear and uncertainty. Disinformers often amplify concerns about the economic impacts of climate action, such as job losses or higher energy costs, to stoke fear. They may frame climate policies as threats to individual freedoms or national sovereignty, creating a sense of anxiety and resistance among the public. By focusing on potential negatives, these tactics aim to shift the conversation away from the scientific evidence and towards emotional responses that hinder rational discussion.
