Conspiracy theories 2/2
One prevalent conspiracy theory is the idea that climate change is a “Chinese hoax” designed to undermine Western economies. This theory has no basis in reality but has been used to discredit climate science and justify inaction on climate policies. Another example is the “ClimateGate” scandal, where emails from climate scientists were hacked and selectively published to suggest that scientists were manipulating data to exaggerate the threat of climate change. Despite multiple investigations clearing the scientists of wrongdoing, the conspiracy theory persists, continuing to fuel climate denial.
