Media literacy and other forms 6/6

Other types of literacy

To fully engage with today’s media environment, we also need to understand other literacies, including:

  • Information literacy: Knowing how to find, evaluate, and use information effectively
  • Digital literacy: Understanding how digital platforms work, including algorithms and data tracking
  • AI literacy: Recognising how artificial intelligence can create, manipulate, or personalise content
  • News literacy: Learning how journalism works, including fact-checking and sourcing
  • Data literacy: Interpreting numbers, charts, and statistics in context
  • Privacy & security literacy: Knowing how to protect your data and personal information online

These are all connected and together, they help us become safer, more informed digital citizens.
