Media literacy and other forms 4/6

Media literacy as a lifelong procedure

Media literacy is a lifelong procedure.

As Renee Hobbs explains, media literacy involves:

  • Making informed decisions when accessing information
  • Analysing content to understand point of view, bias, and credibility
  • Creating content responsibly — whether it’s a tweet, photo, or video
  • Reflecting on how we communicate and engage with others online
  • Taking meaningful action in our communities, online and offline

These are essential skills in a world where anyone can publish, but not everything published is reliable.
