Criteria for evaluating sources 3/9
The CRAAP Test
Another widely used tool is the CRAAP Test, which evaluates sources using these criteria:
- Currency: Is the information up to date?
- Relevance: Does it relate directly to your question or topic?
- Authority: Who is the author or organisation behind it?
- Accuracy: Is it correct, well-sourced, and supported by evidence?
- Purpose: Why was the information created? To inform, sell, entertain, or persuade?
The CRAAP test helps you question both the content and its purpose—especially when a source seems more focused on persuasion than facts.
