Chapter 1: Fundamentals on Climate Change Communication 6/9
Effective communication is about inclusion
Due to the variety of realities in our society, communication must consider an important aspect, people diversity. People worldwide have different backgrounds, beliefs, opinions, and capabilities. Therefore, communication can’t be homologated to one type but fine-tuned with specific target audiences.
For example, communicating climate change to scientists is different than communicating climate change to scholars or citizens, which climate-related knowledge could be lower.
Moreover, fine-tuned communication requires a set of options that do not only rely on the target audience’s climate-related knowledge, but also on the socio-economic, socio-ecological, religious, and political environments in which people live. Indeed, it is not an easy task! But what if tools and resources are missing? We implement them.
